My grandfather opened a jewelry store in Iowa after becoming a watchmaker through the GI Bill after World War II. He built Necker's Jewelers from scratch, side by side with my grandmother. Their legacy inspired my dad, and now me.

For as long as I can remember, jewelry has fascinated me. The blending of ancient stones, billions of years old, with deep human experiences. An engagement ring, a graduation signet, an heirloom from someone we love - these aren't just objects. They're our stories and our legacy.

Yet I've always disliked the typical jewelry shopping experience. Pushy sales floors, impersonal interactions, and corporate priorities that leave people feeling unheard and pressured into buying whatever is in stock. It never felt right. I realized that as an industry, we were losing trust - and instead of addressing it, we were digging in deeper.
